Cleartune - $3.99 (IOS and Android)

This is an IOS only app. It is one of the few great tuning apps available for the iPhone and iPad. It utilizes the inbuilt microphone to of the device to record the sound, and then tune it.

One of the things I love about this app is that it has a round note wheel which you can easily use to identify your pitches quickly. It is the small things that makes me like an app.

Some Frequently Asked Questions About Guitar Tuning Apps

Below, I have complied a few short questions that people tend to have about these kinds of apps. If you have another question then feel free to comment below and I will answer it.

Are these apps accurate?

Yes. These apps are very accurate in regards for tuning your guitar. However, if you have a faulty microphone in your phone then it might affect the app as well.

Do I just need one app for tuning?

Yes, but also no. I tend to tune the guitar with my favorite app and then use another one to recheck it. Yes, there would be a slight difference between them but you can ignore it. Just be on a look out for a major one.

I tuned the guitar but I feel that my sound sounds weird?

This can be due to a few things:
1. You didn’t tune the guitar properly.
2. The microphone of your phone wasn’t working correctly or there was a lot of background noise while you were tuning the guitar.
3. Your guitar strings are rusty and old. That is why they are not able to produce normal sounds.

End Note

These days there are many apps in the market, and therefore it can difficult to find a good reliable one. However, I feel like this list would at least guide you to in getting started with these kinds of apps.
